Maoists release tape, allege RK in cop custody

Four days after the crossfire in the cutoff area in Malkangiri district in Odisha close to Andhra Pradesh in which 30 Maoists were gunned down, the CPI(Maoist) East Division Committee on Friday charged that both Odisha and AP Chief Ministers are responsible for the killings.

An audio tape released by the Maoist leader and CPI(Maoist) East Division Committee secretary Kailash said the two State Governments are undertaking the ‘Operation Green Hunt’ in the area with an aim to resume mining operations to safeguard the interests of industrialists.

He said the security personnel have taken top Maoist leader G Ramakrishna alias RK in their custody as no whereabouts of the latter are yet to be ascertained.

He threatened the SPs of Malkangiri and Visakhapatnam Rural of dire consequences for launching the recent encounter.

Mentioning that some members of the Maoist organisation were caught alive by police personnel during the encounter, Kailash demanded immediate production of the arrested Maoists before court.

He emphatically said the morale of the ultras is still high despite the death of the top Maoist leaders in the encounter.
