A band of Maoists razed an abandoned guesthouse of a private company in Koraput district on late Thursday night.According to reports, the leftwing ultras arrived at Pedapadu village of Talagurulu panchayat under Pottangi block in the late night hours.
After reaching there, they went to the guesthouse of the Midwest Granite Company near Ampabali Cement Factory and asked the caretakers to vacate. Soon later, they demolished the guesthouse with the help of a bulldozer of the company. Before leaving the area, the Maoists left a poster at the spot.Following information, police and a team of CRPF personnel rushed to the area. The police suspected involvement of the Maoists of the Srikakulam-Koraput division in the incident.
Sources said that the Maoists destroyed the guesthouse apprehending that it would be used as a CRPF camp. The anti-Maoist combing operation in the area was intensified following the incident.
