Over 60 dreaded Maoist cadres, including men and women, after sneaking into the district here, have started a public relations drive by holding a series of meetings at Makarchuan, Tarabai, Matabandh and other villages under Ambavona block, confided sources.
According to the sources, the Maoists have conducted meetings at Santhara, Karla, Debrigarh, Kurumkel and Junani villages near Barapahar jungle. They wanted to know from the locals about the corrupt officers and contractors and present situation of the block.
Meanwhile, combing operations have been launched at the forest areas under Paikmal police station limits. The concerned villagers expressed happiness, whereas the corrupted officials and contractors are a scared lot after hearing the Maoists’ presence in the block, the sources informed.
Reportedly, among the ultras, some are speaking in Odia and some others in Chhattishgadi and Hindi. According to the locals, the Maoists entered the district for widening their network.
