People of the Ganamerjor area under Bargarh district’s Jagdalpur police station are in a state of fear as the Maoists have asked them to observe the ongoing PlGA Week from Wednesday.

The Maoists’ appeal now poses to be a big challenge for the police. The Jagdalpur police station got its status from an outpost only on December 1.The police have so far recovered hundreds of Maoist posters and banners from the Ganamerjor area at Padampur-Baisana main road and at another place between Bageijuri village and the lakhmara College, which are 10 km from the police station.

According to sources, Maoists are reportedly camping on the Adhualapata Mountain near Gandapali village under the PS.The banners and posters seized by police have been handwritten in both Odia and Hindi and issued by the Odisha State Committee of the CPI (Maoist). They have mentioned that the Maoists are struggling to free innocent people from the torture of companies, mahajanas and Jamindars. It has also urged the people not to believe and keep away from ‘Narendra Modi’s’ cheating speech on developmental projects.
