leave posters seeking people’s support
Cadres of the Jharkhand-based CPI(Maoist) seem to have made a fresh ploy to garner people’s support to fight against the PlFI members in the Odisha-Jharkhand border areas.
It is evident from the fact that some Maoist banners and posters recently found in Chakradharpur and nearby bordering areas, including West Singhbhum district’s Manoharpur, warned that the PlFI members would face dire consequences if they collect extortion money and resort to illegal activities in the area.
The propaganda materials also urged the local villagers to unite against PlFI goons and punish them with the help of Maoists.
The posters condemned the PlFI members for forcing rural shopkeepers, Anganwadi Centres, contractors and industrialists of the Jharkhand-Odisha border areas to lay money in the name of Maoists.
These posters and banners have raised the headache of the cops of both the States as a panicky situation has prevailed in the area. Despite the odd climatic situation, police from both the States have intensified combing operations.
Sources said about a 175km stretch from Bisra to Talsara in Sundargarh district is now infested by PlFI members. So both the Sundargarh and Rourkela police are watching the situation very closely, said a police officer.
It may be noted that the Jharkhand-based Maoists and PlFI members indulged in many bloody clashes in the past.
