Maoists kill youth in kangaroo court

Published on:

Maoists again made their presence felt in the extremist-infested district by killing a youth after branding him a police informer at Jantri village in the Chindrakonda cutoff region on Thursday.

Reports said a group of Red rebels conducted a kangaroo court in the village in the morning where they killed a youth Sukra Muduli dubbing him to be a police informer.

Sources said that the deceased youth was earlier issued death threats by the Maoists and asked to stop working for the police.

The incident has triggered panic among the locals. Besides, they have been warned by the ultras to refrain from providing information to the cops or else face the same fate like Muduli.

It might be mentioned here that the Chitrakonda cutoff region remains a stronghold of Maoists in the district.

Due to the inhospitable terrain and communication problems security forces are not able to travel swiftly to take the rebels head on.

But recently, the BSF has set up a camp there and with the Gurupriya bridge’s completion it is expected that police and security forces will find it easier to combat the ultras, opined senior police officials.
