Maoists killed a village head in Malkangiri district late on Saturday night. According to reports, the Maoists arrived at Mangipali under MV-79 village in the night, dragged away village head Kamalu Penta from his house and shot him dead on the outskirts of the village.
The villagers found the bullet-ridden body of Penta early on Sunday morning. Following information, security personnel rushed to the spot. “We suspect that the Maoists might have killed Penta suspecting him as a police informer,” said Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra. This is the third killing in the district in the last fortnight by Maoists, spreading panic in the whole area.
