Maoists shot dead a tribal youth in Malkangiri district late on Saturday night.
According to reports, 20 to 25 Maoists barged into Madakapadar village under the Mathili police station limits and called up Damu Sisa, son of former village sarpanch, from his house. They took him to a place on the outskirts of the village and severely thrashed him. later, they shot him dead.
The villagers found the body of Damu on the outskirts of the village on Sunday morning with a letter in which the Maoists said they killed the youth as he was a police informer. It was on his information that a Maoist was killed by the police in an encounter at Jadaputi recently, the letter stated. Till reports last came in, police were yet to reach the spot while the body was still lying on the outskirts of the village.
