Maoists gunned down a tribal villager in Kandhabudha in Malkangiri district suspecting him to be a police informer. They killed him to take revenge of the recent police encounter with them, sources said.
The bullet-riddled body of the deceased, identified as Arjun Khara, was found in a nearby forest in the wee hours on Sunday.
According to the deceased’s son Mangala, a group of around 20 ultras stormed into the village on Saturday night and took Khara along with them. In the morning, the villagers found Khara’s body.
A handwritten note was found beside Khara’s body in which the ultras mentioned that he was punished for working as a police informer and helped police in the recent encounter at Dadhaput.
Meanwhile, security personnel intensified combing operations and patrolling in the area. Earlier on Sep 20, a tribal man Trinath Madhi had been killed by the Red rebels in the Mathili police station area in the district suspecting him to be a police informer.
