A day after suspected Maoists killed a sarpanch in Malkangiri district, the body of another person was found in the district on Saturday morning.

Maoists slit the throat of a former sarpanch of Andarapalli, Sahadev Badanayak, in the district’s cutoff region.

As per reports, a group of around 30 to 40 men stormed into Badanayak’s house at Raba village under Kudumuluguma block late on Fridaynight. They dragged him out his house and took him with them.

His body was found in a pool of blood with throat slit on the outskirts of the village on Saturday morning.

Badanayak had been in the hit list of Red rebels as he was receiving death threats, sources said. Handwritten posters were found near the site pointing towards the involvement of ultras in the barbaric act.

Maoists had killed the sarpanch of Badapadar under the same block on Friday night. Around ten persons barged into the house of Jayaram Khara and killed him in cold blood by slitting his throat.
