Maoists on Friday killed a former Home Guard of the Chitrakonda cutoff region in Malkangiri district after abducting him from his village a few days ago suspecting him as a police informer.
The deceased was identified as Sarat Khara (30), a resident of Kuturpadar village in the Chitrakonda cutoff region. He had quit his Home Guard job about four years ago following threat from the Maoists.
Inspector in-Charge of Chitrakonda police station Irfam Kiro said that a group of armed rebels had abducted Khara from his house on Wednesday. His body bearing with a gunshot marks was found on the outskirts of nearby Panasput village on Friday morning, he added. Police rushed to the spot for investigation, Kiro said.
