Maoists form women wing in M'giri

After Police DG Prakash Mishra's announcement to start combing operation in the Maoist hinterland of Malkangiri district, the Maoist supported organisations have started to woo the local people. On Monday, they formed Biplabi Mahila Sangathan to come close to the common mass.

Around 5,000 Maoist supporters from 20 villages came in a huge procession from Badariguda jungle to Khejangiwada in the district. The women, holding placards, danced to the tune of folk songs and shouted slogans against Government apathy. They distributed posters among the people at the meeting venue.

The women wing organised dance and song programmes with the help of Jana Nrutya Mandali to endear itself with the mass. During the procession, the members protested the police and BSF jawan's misbehaviour with women. They demanded that police should refrain from filing false and fabricated case against innocent people of the district.

On the other hand, the police rubbished the allegation of the Sangathan. "The police or BSF personnel never misbehave with women as they are appointed to give security to the common people," said Malkangiri DSP M Sankarshan Dora.
