Maoists claim Sukma attack responsibility

Published on:

The Maoists on Thursday claimed responsibility of the dastardly attack on CRPF jawans in Sukma in Chhattisgarh, in which 25 security men were martyred and 12 others were injured.

In an audio tape broadcast by a television channel, a person claiming to be the spokesperson of Dandakarnya Zonal Committee of Maoists Nikhil said the Sukma attack was in retaliation for the slaying of nine Maoist cadres in Odisha.

He said the common people, poor and downtrodden are being exploited and tortured. In the name of democracy, a fascist rule is being carried out,    this is revenge for that.

He further said the low ranked policemen and jawans should not risk their lives for the oppressors. Instead, they should leave their jobs and fight for the poor and oppressed.

This is the first time the Red rebels have claimed responsibility for the deadly ambush.

Intelligence sources have said Maoist battalion number one commander Hidma is said to be behind Monday’s attack on the CRPF personnel at Sukma.  Hidma, a homegrown Maoist currently heading the Maoists’ first battalion is active in the Sukma-Bijapur region in south Bastar of Chhattisgarh.
