Maoists again hold camp against Gurpriya

Published on:

Maoists again opposed the Gurupriya Bridge in Malkangiri district at a camp organised at the Basuguda forest on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border.

Hundreds of people of nearly 10 to 12 villages attended the camp, which was held under the leadership of Maoist leader Sudhir, sources said.

During the camp, the Red rebels in their fiery speeches alleged that the Gurupriya Bridge would act against the interest of tribals. Besides, it would also help the Government loot natural resources from the  areas in the district.

A memorial for the Maoist cadres killed in encounters with police was also set up while leaders urged people to strengthen the Maoist organisation.

It was for the second time that the Maoists opposed the recently-inaugurated Gurupriya Bridge.

Earlier, over 600 Maoist sympathisers and leaders had attended a camp at the border of Ralegada panchayat in Malkangiri and Korukunda of Andhra Pradesh on July 29.
