Two PMGSY workers of Nagira, a tribals-dominated village under Pallahara gram panchayat in Angul district, were abducted by suspected Maoists late on Tuesday night, it was reported on Wednesday.
The abductees were identified as Amarendra Sahoo and Hemant Swain. They were working as labourers under SK Agrawal, a contractor.
Being informed, the Angul SP Rajesh Pandit rushed to the spot and ordered for an investigation.
“We are not sure that Maoists have abducted them. It would be known after an investigation, which has already started,” said a senior police official. He also informed that a combing operation has been launched in the area.
