Maoist threat: Malkangiri family flees home

Published on:

The threat from Maoists is forcing people to flee from the cutoff Chitrakonda region in the district. In the latest incidence, a family has left their village on Saturday after being terrorised by Maoists for the last couple of days.

Three members of the family from Jantri village had to abandon their home after the Red rebels threatened them in a Kangaroo court. A youth of the family had gone to Andhra Pradesh in search of livelihood. Suspecting him to be police informer, the family members were warned of dire consequences by the rebels.

A fear psychosis has now gripped other villagers as already six families have abandoned their homes out of fear of the Maoists so far in the area.

However, the police officials claimed that they have no knowledge about the incident but security will be provided to the affected families if they approach the police.
