Hardcore PlGA armed cadre of CPI (Maoist) James Purty alias Sanjay surrendered before Rourkela police and 19 Battalion of CRPF on Thursday, informed Rourkela Additional SP PK Jena and CRPF Deputy Commandant JP Singh in a joint Press briefing.
According to Jena, James, who belongs to Jorbeda village under Adnki Police Station limits of Khunti district of Jharkhand, had joined the outfit in November 2009 and was working with Ajay Da alias Kundan Pahan, member of Jharkhand Regional Committee. He had also come in contact with Prasant Bose alias Kisan Da alias Neta, a hardcore Maoist.
James was involved in two encounters between Maoists and security forces in Marangburu hill area and Tamad area under Andki Police Station limits. But he left the outfit in 2013 after getting disillusioned with Maoist ideology. He surrendered after knowing the lucrative surrender policy of the Odisha Government.
