A hardcore Maoist, Purna Huluka alias Khatru, was shot dead by security forces near Narayanpatna in Koraput district on Tuesday late night.Khatru of Basanaput village was gunned down in an exchange of fire with District Voluntary Force (DVF) personnel in Narayanpatna area. He was carrying a cash reward of `1 lakh on his head,police said.Khatru was an armed cadre of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) and was involved in several heinous crimes including several murders in Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon areas in Koraput district, police sources said.Combing operations have been intensified in the area after the incident.
