Maoists allegedly killed village guard of Katlanga in Kalahandi district Chemu Harijan on Tuesday by slitting his throat suspecting him to be a police informer.

According to reports, the Red rebels killed Harijan near a bridge at Chemuku village. They also torched his bike.

Notably, the Maoists had earlier kidnapped five persons of Katlanga village including Harijan protesting the death of their female cadre Sangita in an encounter with policemen at the Katlanga Reserve Forest on October 15. Holding Harijan captive, the Maoists had released rest of the villagers.

Harijan’s wife said the Maoists killed him suspecting him a police informer. She further stated that the Maoists took away Harijan’s Aadhaar card, ration card, voter card and bank passbook.
