Maoist posters in R'gada oppose PM visit

Published on:

After the recent incident of Maoists carrying out IED explosions at a railway station in the district, rebels have put up posters warning the security forces and protesting the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi

to the State on April 15 and 16.

Sources said the posters were found at the Sikarpai Railway Station and different places in Kalyansingpur in the district.

The posters were in the name of Odisha State Committee of CPI (Maoist). The posters warned the security forces against taking up combing operations in the area.

The rebels alleged the police of tempting the tribal youths to act as police informers. The police have seized the posters and began investigations.

Notably, Raygada is among the most extremist-infested districts. But due to deployment of Central paramilitary forces along with the Special Operations Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force, extremist activities had declined significantly. But the Red rebels have again reared their head.
