A Maoist poster was seen pasted on Thursday at the gate of Gyanodaya High School, Utkalnagar, Fertiliser Township building here, creating panic among the public.

Source said that while a sweeper of the school saw the poster first. The poster on its top said ‘Eastern Communist Party (lal Bahinee)’ while on its bottom it was written ‘lathikata-Bonai Maovadi Sangh’.

The poster threatened to close the school for seven days. Further, the Maoists through the poster put forth certain demands to the Government and threatened that if the demands are not heeded, they would go on a rampage in the school on August 15, the Independence Day.

The school headmistress lodged an FIR in this regard at the Tangarpalli police station. Police station IIC Suvendu Sabar, suspecting the genuineness of the poster, said it might be the handiwork of some mischievous children as there is no such Maoist organisation existing. Still, the police are investigating into the matter, he said.

It is to be mentioned that a couple of years ago a similar letter was dropped at the Saraswati Sishu Mandir of Kuarmunda warning against observance of Independence Day activities.
