The People’s liberation of Guerrilla Army (PlGA) Week, which was being observed Maoists in Malkangiri and Koraput districts since December 3, ended on Tuesday with no unwanted happenings.
People in many rural parts of the two districts were in a state of fear as the Maoist had called upon them to observe the week. They had put banners and posters in the narayanpatna and bandhugaon areas for the purpose.
They opposed establishment of the proposed BSF camp at Ralegad and destroyed a guest house of a private company during the week. However, no big incident was reported from any part of the two districts during the week. Maoist-affected areas like Narayanpatna, Bandhugaon, Boipariguda, lakhmipur, Nandapur and lamtaput remained as calm as non-Maoist areas.
But people in Kotia, Talegluru ad Ambabali of Potaingi block faced many problems during the week. The communication between Sunki to Ambabali and other areas was disrupted in the first three days. The Police and the BSF have achieved a big success trough proper combing operations with intelligence inputs, according to IG Yeshwant Jethwa.
Meanwhile, OSRTC and private bus services resumed from Tuesday on many routes, which were closed during the week. The OSRTC has resumed bus services on 9 routes, informed DTM Rajendra Pujari. According to the BSF IG AK Sharma, the proposed BSF camp at Ralegad would be set up after receipt of order from the State Government.
