A Maoist was killed on Sunday during a heavy gun battle between District Voluntary Force (DVF) personnel and ultras in the K Gaon Chudapahad forest area under Kalahandi district’s Golamunda police limits.
South-Western Range IGP Yashwant Jethwa said security personnel led by Kalahandi SP Brajesh Kumar Rai had launched a combing operation in the forest on Sunday morning while acting on a tipoff. An exchange of fire had taken place between the forces and Maoists. later the police found a Maoist cadre’s body in the area and and seized a sophisticated Insas rifle from the spot, Jethwa added. The search and combing operation was still going on in the area, sources said.
