The tribals-dominated district of Malkangiri currently continues to hit headlines for yet another reason with as many as 30 members of five tribal families of Dabuguda village of the district leaving their homes on Monday night after receiving threats from Maoists.
After deserting their homes, they covered a distance of around 40 km to reach Kudumulugumma in the district on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the Maoists threatened the tribals to leave the village suspecting that they had informed police about the Red rebels’ presence in the Panasput area, where as many as 30 Maoists were killed in an operation last month.
The district administration has provided temporary accommodation to the hapless villagers at the Kudumulugu-mma block office, sources said.
