Several leaders and workers of other political parties from the Remuna area joined the BJD on Friday at a function held here in the presence of BJD district president and Baleswar MP RK Jena, party district observer Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and party MlAs of the district.
Those who joined the ruling party included sitting and former elected local bodies’ representatives.
They said they opted for the JD being inspired by the pro-people programmes of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and motivated by MP Jena.
“These new comers will strengthen our party by carrying the party’s messages to the masses,” said Jena.
Significantly, the BJD lost the Remuna Assembly constituency to the BJP in the 2014 elections
