Over a hundred of Congress and BJD workers from Mayurbh-anj, Jajpur and Kendrapada district joined the BJP in the presence of its State president Basant Panda, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and legislature Party leader KV Singh Deo here on Sunday.
Those who joined the party include former Mayurbhanj ZP president Prakash Soren and former Khunta block Chairman Dasharath Baxi, Jajpur district’s former ZP member Dillip Kumar Rout and Kendrapada Municipality former Chairman and PCC member Prabir Kumar Mohanty. Many former Sarpanches belonging to the three districts too joined the BJP.
Panda and Pradhan welcomed the leaders by offering them party cap and shawl.
“With joining of leaders in big numbers will certainly strengthen the BJP at grassroots level further,” said Pradhan.
Among others, MlA Pradeep Purohit, vice president Sameer Mohanty and Raj Kishore Das, general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan and Bhrigu Buxipatra and concerned district presidents were present.
