Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to formally inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar on February 10.
A decision to this effect has apparently been taken after a Central team led by Union Health and Family Welfare Joint Secretary Sundeep Nayak reviewed the progress of all the six new AIIMS clones, one each in Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Patna, Rishikesh, Jodhpur and Raipur, recently.
According to reports, while the AIIMS Rishikesh is scheduled to be inaugurated first sometime before January 31, the formal launching of other branches would follow in successions with Bhubaneswar and Raipur units readying for February 10.
Notably, the AIIMS here had started its out patient departments (OPDs) on June 4, 2013 last and began admitting patients in 30 beds from December 27 last. About 40,000 patients have already been treated in its OPDs.
At present, 15 specialty clinics are functioning in the hospital. It plans to have 39 super specialty clinics in the coming days.
