The Government Railway Police (GRP) have started a manhunt to nab a youth who allegedly killed a minor girl after abducting her three days ago in the city. The incident came to light after the father of the deceased lodged a complaint with the Commissionerate police late on Wednesday night.

Earlier, after the girl’ abduction, her father had filed an FIR at the GRP. According to the FIR, the youth, working as a supervisor of a contractor, had abducted the Class-VIII girl from the railway apartment behind the Bhubaneswar railway station on May 4.

The GRP had started probing the incident. During investigation, the police came to know that the girl was kept in a house at the railway colony at Sarakantara Retang on the outskirts of the city.

After reaching the house on Tuesday morning, the police found that the girl had been set on fire. She was rushed to the Capital Hospital and later to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack, where she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday morning.

The police handed over the body to the family members after the postmortem. The girl’s father lodged another complaint with the police late on Wednesday night.
