Manch warns Govt against ignoring MKCG woes

The Manav Adhikar Suraksha Manch (MASM), a city-based civil body, has warned the State Government against ignoring and showing apathetic attitude towards the MKCG Medical College Hospital here.

Manch convener Abani Kumar Gaya alleged that the hospital has become a business place for medicine companies and doctors. Even some doctors divert patients to private nursing homes by advancing absurd reasons, he added.

He said the medicine stores in the hospital campus don’t give 15-per cent discount on any medicine which needs probe. Most of the time, PG (medical) students look into treatment of patients in the place of doctors, he alleged.

“Why the medical superintendent is silent on this issueIJ Is the State Government intentionally ignoring problems of the hospitalIJ” asked Gaya.

The Manch with the help of other intellectuals and social activists staged a dharna on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti demanding solution of the medical problems within a certain deadline.

“If the State Government doesn’t take any step to solve the issue, we will turn the small dharna into a big movement,” Gaya said.
