The members and associates of the Rourkela Yuva Jagruti Manch (RYJM) under the leadership of its convener Gopal Jena demonstrated in front of the Town Services Department, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), alleging double standards and irregular practices of certain employees of the land Department.
According to their allegation, some corrupt employees on the one hand are encouraging the mafia to sell the vacant land in the township for illegal construction of houses and shops and on the other, are demolishing the houses and shops of the poor
people who are unable to pay any hush money.
The agitators further alleged that the tainted officials have earned more than Rs 1 crore through selling the RSP plot in connivance with the mafia.
They demanded immediate removal of the corrupt officials and a probe into the scam by the vigilance department of the RSP.
later, Town Services DGM met the demonstrators and assured them to take the appropriate steps. The agitators submitted a memorandum to the CEO, RSP and GM, RSP for needful action.
