Manch dubs Award Wapsi as intolerable

The Bharat Raksha Manch came down heavily on the recent trend of Award Wapsi by writers, scientists and intellectuals in the country on the pretext of growing intolerance.

At a convention by the Manch here, the speakers described the giving up of akademi awards by decorous individuals on the pretext of ‘intolerance’ as ‘intolerable.’ “It is a well knitted conspiracy,” opined by the speakers.

Speaking on the occasion, national joint coordinator of the Manch Murali Manohar Sharma expressed his disapproval of the recent testimonials by Hollywood stars like Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan.

“They should have thought of the repercussion before expressing their opinions,” Sharma said.

Sharma referred to many incidents, including the nude painting of goddesses by MF Hussain, demolition of more than 40 temples in Jammu, Gulshan Kumar’s assassination, killing of Kashmiri Pandits among others and said these intellectuals had remained mum over these incidents and did not consider them to be a threat to India’s secular fabric.

The speakers ascribed the true spirit of secularism to uniform respect for all the religions. “Babri structure demolition must be taken as seriously as the brutal

killings of Kashmiri Pandits,” they argued.
