The Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch staged a mass demonstration here in protest against the Union Government’s lackadaisical attitude towards giving employments to youths and its pro-corporate economic policy and sought an early intervention of President Ram Nath Kovind in resolving the issues.
Members of worker, human rights, democratic and progressive organisations, intellectuals, youths, students and women staged a demonstration in front of the Sub-Collectors’ office and later submitted a memorandum to thePresident though the Sub-Collector seeking fulfillment of their demands.
“The BJP had promised in 2014 to provide jobs to two crore youths every year. However, it has not given a single job even as it has remained in power for over five years. Instead, thousands of people have been retrenched from the Central public undertaking units. The Telangana Government has driven out 48,563 transport employees and the Uttar Pradesh Government 25,000 Home Guards.
The Centre’s pro-corporate economic policy has put CPSUs in utter financial crisis and they are heading towards privatisation,” alleged agitators.
They demanded that the President direct the Government to refrain from economic policy favouring corporate houses and to protect CPSUs and create jobs for youths. They too wanted that the Centre adopt a pro-worker policy and ‘equal work, equal pay’ system.
