Internationally-acclaimed sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo created a striking sculpture on the Puri sea beach to mark the World Tourism Day on Saturday.
Sahoo erected a 12-feet-high structure having replications of the Statue of liberty, Tower of Pisa, Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, Tajmahal, etc., by using 20 tonnes of sand. Through this, the artist wanted to give a message that people across the world come close to each other with development of tourism.
Observation of the day aims at raising awareness on the role of tourism in the international community and to demonstrate how it impacts social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.
