A man was severely thrashed by locals while allegedly trying to abduct his estranged wife in a car at Dharmagarh in the district on Sunday.
The accused was identified as Udhav Soni of Jagdalpur city of Chhattisgarh.
Reports said Udhav had married to Ular Bag of Goindimunda village in Dharamgarh Tehsil under the Golamunda police station ten years ago.
However, both were staying separately over some dispute for the past four years. The locals thrashed Udhav at Boden village after hearing the screams of his estranged wife while he was trying to kidnap her in a car.
The locals rescued the woman and later handed over Udhav to the police.
