A married man who deserted his legally-married wife allegedly due to extramarital affairs was given a befitting reply by the villagers at Baliapal.

They tied his hands with a rope and beat him in full public glare before handing over him to the police. A video of the whole event has gone viral.

JibanMajhi of Palasahi village under Jaleswar police station,  who had married Annapurna of Choumukha village under Baliapala police station and had two children, had eloped with another woman a few months ago leaving his wife and children in the lurch. Following the incident, Annapurna was living along with his sons and mother-in-law.

However, Jiban had visited his home as it was the birthday of his elder son. And when he was asked to bring a new dress for the birthday he got infuriated and beat his son. As his wife and mother intervened he allegedly beat them with an iron rod.

Hearing his wife’s scream, the fellow villagers rushed and tried to prevent him. Yet,  he rebuked them using filthy language. Soon the villagers reacted by thrashing him heavily.

The police have begun an investigation after rescuing Jiban.
