A person surrendered himself before police on Tuesday night claiming to have killed a youth over old enmity at Harijan Sahi under Patrapur block in Ganjam district.
The accused was identified as Surat Nimei while the deceased was identified as Rajat Nayak.
Police said Surat stabbed Rajat with a knife over a past dispute when the victim was sitting in the verandah his house.
Soon after killing Rajat, Surat rushed to the police station and confessed to the murder. Police arrested him after recording his statement.
According to sources, Surat had earlier tried to kill the victim and his father, following which he was forwarded to jail before.
