A man surrendered before the Patkura police in the district after killing his wife on Sunday. The accused was identified as Chandan Jena of Arakhakuda village.
Police said Chandan confessed to have hacked his wife Babita to death with a sharp weapon in a fit of rage following a family feud.
After Chandan’s confession, police launched an investigation and seized Babita’s body in the presence of a Magistrate and a scientific team. Later, the body was sent to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for postmortem.
The accused, who is being interrogated, would be forwarded to court after a medical test later in the day, said sources. The couple had married five years ago after falling in love. Before marriage, Babita was staying with her family in Jayapur village under the Mahanga police station.
