A widow on Wednesday night was strangulated to death by one Shrikant Acharya (30), who was staying with her, at Bagichapada in Sundargarh district.
The accused surrendered before police after committing the crime.
Police sources said Acharya was in a relationship with deceased widow Surabhi Bag (34) and was staying with her for the last ten years.
Sources said both of them had an altercation over some matter. The heated exchange of words soon took an ugly turn as Acharya in a fit of rage strangulated Surabhi.
later, Acharya went to the Rajgangpur police station and surrendered before the cops.
The body of Surabhi was seized and sent for postmortem. Investigation into the matter was underway, said police officials.
