A man allegedly attempted to kill his sister-in-law by stabbing her with a sharp weapon over a land dispute at Pahanaga village under the Niali police station in Cuttack district on Wednesday night.
The injured was identified as Kadambini Barik.
Sources said accused Ganesh Barik attacked Kadambini with a sharp weapon after finding her alone at the house at around 10.30 pm. He then fled from the spot.
Kadambini, who sustained injuries in his neck and face, was first rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Niali and later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital here.
Though the exact motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that a long standing feud between accused Ganesh and his younger brother Jogeswar might have led to the incident. police are investigating into the incident.
