In yet another tragic incident, a person and his son were killed after a bike by which they were travelling collided head on with a truck at the Amrudi bridge on NH-143 in Sundargarh district late on Monday night.
The truck fell off the bridge from a height of 30 feet as the driver lost control over the wheels, sources said. The mishap took place at around3 am when the bike came in front of the speeding iron ore-laden truck after overtaking a bus.
While the son died on the spot, the father sustained grievous injuries on his left leg and was admitted to the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH), where he soon later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the truck was rescued in a critical condition from the spot by locals and rushed to the RGH.
