In a shocking incident, a person was shot dead by his younger stepbrother over a petty issue at Kutasingha village under the Naktideula police limits in Sambalpur district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Birabar Munda. According to reports, Birabar and his younger brother Dhira Munda had a heated exchange of words after a calf of the former grazed paddy from the backyard of Dhira’s house.
The incident turned fatal when Dhira lost his cool and opened fire at Birabar with a country-made gun. Birabar died on the spot.
Dhira went absconding after committing the crime. On being informed, the Naktideula police reached the spot and seized Birabar’s body. The gun was also seized by the police.
Dhira reportedly didn’t possess a licence for the gun. Efforts were on to nab him.
