A man was sentenced to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment on Monday for killing a villager in Ganjam district about 12 years ago. Additional District Judge Chintamani Panda convicted Muna Swain for murdering Harikrushna Swain on August 29, 2003 at Hugulapeta village. He also slapped a fine of `10,000 on Swain, failing payment of which the convict would undergo an additional jail term for a year. The court also ordered to pay Rs 5-lakh compensation to the victim’s widow.
