In a heartrending incident, a person pushed his pregnant wife from an express train near Rauli railway station between Koraput and Rayagada following an argument between them.
The woman, after falling on the railway track, gave birth to a baby, which died shortly later. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel took the woman to the Rayagada hospital for treatment.
According to reports, Suraj Kerketa from Rourkela had gone to Koraput with his wife Sarojini. The couple had stayed there for four days. On Tuesday they were returning by the Koraput Express.
Sources said Sarojini had opposed her husband’s talking to a woman. They had an argument over the subject before Suraj pushed Sarojini from the train.
The condition of Sarojini was stated to be critical while Suraj was absconding. The police have started investigation into the incident.
