An ex-Army man, Sidharatha Das, who has launched a drive to spread awareness on road safety, has been on a marathon run for last 11 days. He has covered a distance of 500 km and reached Jagatsinghpur on Saturday evening. The civil administration, police personnel and transport officials, besides local residents, greeted Das at the Jagatsinghpur bus-stand.
He was taken to Brundanban Bidya Pitha here in a huge procession where a meeting was held. Speaking on the occasion, Das said looking at grim scenario of road mishaps, he had decided to spread awareness on road safety. "I am interacting with residents, students and motor vehicle riders and urging them to abide by traffic rules while driving on road," Das said, adding that response of public had been quite good.
