Not satisfied with the local police investigations into his daughter’s gang-rape and murder case of last month, Trailokyanath Satapathy of Kishan Nagar has approached the Orissa High Court seeking CBI investigations into his daughter’s unfortunate and untimely death. Alleging that the local police—buckle under the power and influence of the accused—are not investigating the case properly, Satapathy in his petition has claimed that the actual culprits in the case are not booked in the case and they are now roaming freely in the locality.
Satapathy’s 25-year-old daughter went missing on September 23 from her native village in Tarito under the Kishan Nagar police station. However, the following day, her nude body was fished out from a nearby canal with multiple injuries in her private parts. Prima facie police believed it was case of gang rape and murder and on subsequent investigations; police arrested one person in this connection.
Basing on the confessionary statement of the arrested youth, who was also an acquaintance of the victim, the police are now ruling out the rape angle and claiming that the 35-year-old arrested youth had killed the girl in a fit of rage after she refused to marry him. No further arrests have been made in this case and police are ruling out its possibilities.
But the victim’s father maintains that his daughter was very brutally murdered by more than one person after raping her in turns. “But the local police are not bothered about it any more”, Satapathy said adding he would fight it all alone to ensure justice for his daughter. Making the State Home Secretary, Cuttack (Rural) SP, IIC of Kishan Nagar PS and the CBI as opposite parties, Satapathy has filed the writ application in the HC through advocate Nishikant Mishra.
