Suspicion of a woman’s infidelity ruined a family of Raiberuan village under the Astaranga police station in Puri district as her husband brutally killed her late on Sunday night.
More shockingly, the man beheaded his wife after killing her and surrendered before police with the severed head.
Police arrested the accused Ganesh Behera and began interrogating him in this connection.
Reports said Ganesh was working in a private company in Chennai and had come to his house on a vacation.
Suspecting his wife of having extramarital affair, he used to quarrel with her frequently.
On Sunday at around 11 pm, the couple had a particularly heated argument over the issue. In a fit of rage, Ganesh attacked his wife Annapurna with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot, and then beheading her.
After committing the crime, Ganesh put Annapurna’s severed head in a bag and pedalled eight km by a bicycle to the Astaranga police station to confess to his offence.
The police later seized the woman’s body and began an investigation into the incident.
