A man allegedly stabbed his father to death with a knife after an altercation between the two at Tentei in the Soro area of Baleswar district late on Saturday night. Jayakrishna Mallick paid the price of his life because he was opposing his son Sarat’s alleged involvement in illegal liquor trade. Reports said Sarat returned home in late night in an inebriated State, following which a heated exchange of words ensued between him and his father. Sarat lost his cool and stabbed his father, killing him on the spot. He fled from the house soon after committing the murder.
Being informed by neighbours, police reached the village and recovered the body of Jayakrishna and sent it for postmortem. Efforts were on to trace and arrest Sarat, police sources said.
