In a shocking incident, a man ended his life after attacking his wife and daughter with a sharp weapon in Jagatsinghpur district in wee hours on Saturday.
While his daughter succumbed to her injuries, the condition of his wife was stated to be critical.
Reportedly, one Lokanath Pal of Chanda Patana village under the Jagatsinghpur police limits attacked his wife Kalpana and daughter Lucky with an axe. Later, he hanged himself to death with a rope in the house.
Critically-injured Kalpana and Lucky were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared the latter brought dead.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident. Though the exact reason was yet to be ascertained, poverty was suspected to have led to the incident.
