An elderly man was killed in a dynamite blast at Gopalpur village under the Kuakhai police limits in Jajpur district on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Kanhei Behera (60).
According to reports, Kanhei, in an inebriated condition, had thrown dynamite at his house following a quarrel with his wife, son and daughter-in-law on Thursday night. Initially, the dynamite did not explode.
However, the explosive went off after a few hours. By that time Kahnei was in the house alone and others of his family had gone to a former village Sarpanch against him. On their way return home, family members heard a loud sound and then found Kanhei’s body scattered into pieces.
On being informed, the police rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem.
