After a few days of lull, Maoists again triggered panic by killing a tribal villager at Sudhakonda village under the Kalimela police station in the district late on Thursday night.
The rebels claimed that he was a police informer. The victim was identified as Ganga Madkami.
Sources said around 10 to 15 armed Maoists barged into the the village and dragged Madkami out from home. later, they gunned him down claiming that he was a police informer. “The victim had earlier received death threats from the ultras”, said local residents.
The rebels also left behind a poster at the spot claiming responsibility for the killing and branding Madkami as a police informer. In the posters the rebels have warned others that if anyone cooperates with the police he would meet a similar fate. Police have lodged a case a initiated an investigation.
